Confluence Server, RHEL6, Oracle Java 8
After clicking on the new "ideation" menu button, it takes around 20 seconds to display the Ideation dashboard. During this time CPU usage jumps up by approximately 25%. This applies to both the 'card' view and the 'labels' view.
In contrast, viewing the stream of all recent page editing activity on the system takes less than a second and CPU usage barely uptics by 1%.
We have a total of six (6) Ideation "Ideas" system-wide. The CPU usage reported above was for just one user viewing the dashboard.
We were testing upgrade from version 2 to version 3, so the "Ideation" menu button is new, and people are naturally going to want to see what it does. We're anticipating undue system load as a result.
- It would be good to streamline the loading of the dashboard in a way similar to what Atlassian does with their streams on their dashboards.
- It would be good to be able to have the option to disable that button if it is not deemed necessary by the administration of the system.
- It would also be good to have the option to show the dashboard button on Ideation pages, as people that use Ideation are the only ones that would find it useful anyway.
